On Tuesday, April 30th at the Democrat Resource Center, Carter County Democrats met to finalize a strategy to reach out to select target audiences. The goal to emphasize the critical imperative of this year’s election. Namely, to inform, encourage, and remind each other the importance of personally voting as well as encouraging family members to also vote, and vote early.

The stakes could not be higher; Donald trump must not only be defeated. He must be defeated solidly so there is no question about his rejection by this year’s electorate. We need to leave no chance to whine and talk about stolen and rigged elections. The insertion of fake electors into the system is concerning. It seems that Trump may have the Supreme Court’s support. This situation needs to be halted and corrected.

For the group that met, there was solid consensus that President Biden needs all the support he can get if we are to see democracy preserved for now and future generations. Tuesday’s meeting focused on an upcoming postcard program of messaging democracy versus dictatorship, preservation of social security and Medicare, retention of the Affordable Care Act, reproductive health rights and issues. We need to send  reminders of Democratic accomplishments on policy and program gains such as infrastructure investments, re-shoring critical industries such as the CHIPS act to US soil, and other great initiatives that benefit all- no matter what your politics.

Make it a point to plan on attending upcoming meetings and volunteering to work with us on these initiatives. Go to other pages on our website and let us know you want to be a part of laying the groundwork for a more politically balanced populace; more importantly, a more civil level of discourse and respect toward each other.

Lastly, if you haven’t already, please consider making a donation to help us with underwriting the costs of printing, postage, and getting postcards out. You can contribute through Act Blue by going to the “Make A Donation” tab on the page one of the website. Donate what you can is all we ask. Thanks in advance.
